Q: What is Where's George? A: Where's George? is a web site where you can track paper money; to see where it goes after it leaves your wallet.
Q: How do I do it? A: You just go to the site, enter the serial number, series, and location of the bills you currently have in your possession, mark them with the URL www.wheresgeorge.com (optional), and spend them like you normally would. Then you just sit back and wait. Eventually someone will reenter the information from your bill so you can see where it went. This is known as a "hit."
Q: But why? A: Well, it's fun to see where your money ends up.

Community Rules: Please read before joining and posting
$ Please keep all posts related to Where's George?. Acceptable topics include, but are not limited to: talk about methods of marking bills, hit celebrations, sharing useful tips, sharing stats/maps, etc. Posts that are off-topic will be deleted. To clarify: an off-topic post is one that is not 100% about Where's George? related subjects. Once sentence about WG? makes not an on-topic post.
In addition: I will not tolerate any "spam" sort of posts. I will report them as spam.
7. Upload, post or otherwise transmit any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or any other form of solicitation.
Failure to comply with the TOS may result in account revocation.
$ Posts containing hit maps/stat charts are okay, but do not post every single day. We are not that attentive to notice the subtle changes to your stats. Posting links to your hits are okay, but unless your latest hit is really strange or exciting ... we probably won't be all that interested.
$ Posts asking where to purchase stamps will be deleted. If you are looking to purchase stamps, Google it. We also have a list of online and offline shops here. If you know of some place else, let us know and it will be added to the list.
$ General "community" rules apply. This includes (but is not limited to) being nice to the other members and not starting problems or having an attitude. Also, comments have to be allowed on your posts. Why? Because it's not nice to turn them off. The reason you post to a community (and not your own journal) is to have other, like-minded people to talk to.
$ If you post a photo of American currency, please blur out the serial numbers. Why? Because there are people out there that take the serial numbers off of photos of bills online and enter them on Where's George?. If you post a bill with legible serial numbers, you might end up with some false hits.
